Beaches and Bars

There is over 12 kms of coastline between Puerto Pollensa and Alucdia, enclosed by the natural horseshoe Badia de Pollensa, providing for very safe swimming, snorkelling and a great variety of water activities, as you would expect from a top Mediterranean resort.

The beaches of Puerto Pollensa stretch for over 6kms around the bay. From the shallow, tranquil crystal waters of Formentor to the north, through the palm-fringed apartments of 'millionaire’s row' Pine Walk, leading on to the promenade of beach bars, shops and restaurants, ending in the town centre and the jostling Marina. From here you can take boat trips, scuba dive, hire motor and sailing boats and enjoy fine dining at the yacht club.

The wider, busier golden sandy beaches are south of the Marina and stretch for over 2kms to Roca de Llenaire. These are some of the best and safest beaches in Europe (probably the world), with look-out posts and life guards at regular intervals and numerous beach bars with palm parasols and loungers to hire. Jet skis, sailing dinghies, banana rides, parasailing, floating water parks, canoe and pedalo hires, and many more, are available all the way along .... so much fun to be had!

Carry on south and you can explore the natural lake area of l'Albufereta and hit the waves at the very popular wind surfing &  kite surfing beaches. There is a one-way traffic calming system, with a priority lane for runners, cyclists, roller-skaters & skate boarders, all the way from the Marina to Alcudia. These are all very popular activity, especially for locals at the weekend, and an excellent way to keep fit.

Last, but not least, don't forget the wonderful cliffs, coves and light house of Cap de Formentor to the far north. Including the world famous turquoise seas and white sands of Platja de Formentor and the newly renovated Hotel Forementor. You can drive over to the Cap, but a new traffic control system limits the number of cars, especially during the high season. There are also frequent coaches from the bus station. The less energetic may also like to try the glass bottom boat, which departs from the Marina and takes about 30mins to cross the bay to the beach.

For the very adventurous there is an extreme bike ride (the practice area for the Ineos Tour de France team) that starts on the road behind CIRCE and goes over the mountain to Forementor. The ride back has a spectacular view of the bay, but make sure to check your brakes before you start!

See abcMallorca/beaches for further information on the other wonderful beaches and coves to explore all over the island.
