Golf Pollensa

For golfers, there’s Golf Pollensa, a nine-hole course on the main Palma road. Having lived in the area for close to 20 years, there is nothing that director Richard Barnard doesn’t know about golfing on the island.

Inaugurated in 1986 and renovated in 2000, the 9-hole Golf Pollensa course, designed by José Gancedo, is near the north coast, and has panoramic views of the Serra de Tramuntana – the mountain range designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011 – as well as the bays of Pollensa and Alcúdia, and the nature reserve S’Albufereta.

The mainly forested course can be physically hard work, but it’s a pleasant place to enjoy a round or two of golf. Well-maintained and integrated into the landscape, it has two attractive lakes, with plenty of vegetation of mainly olive and pine trees. Golf Pollensa is a course with plenty of hazards and offers chances for all golfers to be challenged. The 5th hole has a long narrow fairway, partly lined with trees, leading to a two-tiered green with bunkers.

There’s also a driving range with pitch and putt areas, golf school with golf professional and special classes offered, pro shop, and rental of equipment. The restaurant Zhan is open daily from 09:00-20:00 hrs and the views from its veranda are really spectacular. As well as salads, chef’s specials and Mediterranean dishes, it offers a daily-changing three-course menu. In the evenings, Zhan becomes a trendy venue for drinks, food and live music and it has hosted the occasional summer evening concert.
