When hiring your own boat it is worth remembering that apart from all but the smallest boats (<6m) you will need to have a license. So a skipper may well be needed and is probably the best way to get the most out of your trip.

Why not take a ferry from Puerto Pollensa to the lovely beach at Formentor? During the season the service runs several times a day and is a favourite with holiday makers. Take a picnic with you and don’t forget to pack plenty of drinks!

There are numerous boat trips available which provide food and drink and a great days entertainment, in addition to those offering fishing and snorkeling.

If you fancy hiring a sailing dinghy, or taking some lessons, then you will find Sail and Surf Pollensa on Lo Gola beach has everything you need.

Sea Adventure run trips ranging from a one hour sail around Formentor, a two hour trip to the caves or a two hour snorkel trip and sunset trips in the evening.

In late summer the Pollensa Glass Bottom Boat which sails around Cap de Forementor enable wonderful views of the colony of breeding Eleonora’s Falcons which nest on the cliffs enroute to Puerto Pollensa. At the right time of the year, normally October, you will see these magnificent birds diving off the cliffs to catch exhausted migrating birds stopping for a rest on their long journey across Europe.

There are also Dolphin Watching Excursions and you can charter a boat or join the many parties that leave for half day or full day cruises from Pollenca Boats

Boat hire, trip days and sailing times vary greatly and it is easier to just wander down to the harbour and take a look at the huge variety available.
